My Story and Why I chose Architecture: Ever since I was a little girl I have always had a passion for art. I would constantly be creating new things out of any material I could get my hands on. Going into my freshman year of High School, I was fortunate to be able to transfer to Gulliver Preparatory School in order to pursue a four year architecture program. Gulliver’s program is second to none in the State of Florida and gave me the foundation and start that I needed. It was confirmation that architecture and interior design was my calling. I fell in love! My college decision was based on majoring in architecture + design and playing volleyball at the Division 1 level. The University of New Mexico offered me the opportunity to do both. My freshman year I excelled on and off the court earning All Mountain West Offensive Player of the week, All Mountain West Scholar Athlete and I was honored by making the Dean’s List. Unfortunately, as I a progressed in my major, the time constraints became too great to play volleyball and study architecture. I chose to follow my passion and career in Interior Design and transferred to the University of Florida, where I plan to graduate with my Bachelors and Masters in Interior Design.
What I plan to do with my career: I plan to use my degree and my skills in design to focus on sustainability and using renewable resources to create affordable and sustainable environments for people who are not so fortunate. I want to push myself to go beyond the normal expectations and be one of the best designers of my time.
